Choreographer Sánchez Ruíz will launch her new book “A Fat Thought – Notes on improvisation and sketches of process” / “Um Pensamento Encorpado – Notas sobre improvisação e desenhos de processos” (bilingual publication in English and Portuguese). In an intimate performative forum celebrating the book launch, Sánchez Ruíz “blends performance, conversation, and dialogue, to offer a rare glimpse into her choreographic thinking and improvisational structures that define her work. The annual BOOGIE DOWN DANCE SERIES continues with “Hip-Hop Homelands” (Pepatián), the 8th annual showcase featuring collaborations between Bronx poets and dancers, curated by Caridad De La Luz (La Bruja) and Rokafella ((May 28). “Pepatián: Dancing Futures Residency” – Meet the emerging NYC dance artists for this year’s twelfth anniversary Dancing Futures Artist Residency! The three artists selected, Jeevika Bhat, Zainab Floyd, Wendy Ann Powell, present themselves and a sample of their work this evening (May 30). “Health & Hip Hop,” led by Janice Tomlinson, choreographer, dancer, teacher, and Cardiac ICU nurse (May 31).
