At NYLA, shares the on-going story of Memory Fleet, a performance and archive project directed and led by Hearn with the premiere of Memory Fleet: Beloved Let’s Cross. Rooted in Hearn’s personal history and shaped by Black and womb-centered histories of Houston, Pittsburgh, and NYC, the performance unfolds through a series of embodied “recipes”—intimate yet expansive—that reveal how movement holds memory, story, and momentum for imagining. These performances are co-presented by NYLA and Chocolate Factory Theater. Find out more here

First up is Inayat: A Duet for Four (Jun. 10-12); Jeremy Nedd’s from rock to rock...aka how magnolia was taken for granite (Jun 18 - 19); Yinka Esi Graves’s The Disappearing Act (Jun 20 - 21); Sung Im Her | Her Project in 1 Degree Celsius (Jun 24-25); Rachid Ouramdane | Compagnie de Chaillot in Tordre, (Jun 27-28); plus the “Social dance on The Dance Floor” series which includes La Tribu de Abrante, Louis Armstrong House Museum Big Band, Herencia de Timbiqui and so much more. Neighbors/Plastic is Nejman and Stamos’ ninth site-specific dance collaboration, using large, yellow, transparent plastic as both costume and set, they investigate the commodification of the female body, entrapment of consumer culture, and the insidious presence of plastic in our environments.
